Philip Lessner, EVP & CTO at YAGEO Group explains why he and Yageo sees a lot of potential in Smotek's disruptive carbon nanofiber technology for capacitors and how the CNF-MIM-technology can roll out a wide range of ultra-thin capacitors that fit very well with the new semiconductor segments Yageo is targeting.
In mid-April, the management team of Smoltek Semi visited Taiwan for meetings and workshops with our collaboration partner YAGEO. Together, we also made a series of meetings with intended customers for Smotek's ultra-thin CNF-MIM capacitors.
Louise Duker, Chief Product Officer at Smoltek, talks about how Smoltek will take the company's technology concept from manufacturing in a laboratory environment to industrial production in a factory - and how the company's product range of ultra-thin capacitors will be developed.
The group company Smoltek Semi will together with, the collaboration partner, Yageo present the first planned joint product technology – ultra-thin decoupling capacitors for mobile phones – at the largest European electronic event next week.
Smoltek and Yageo have started the collaboration to industrialize and commercialize our ultra-thin carbon nanofiber capacitors.
Farzan Ghavanini, CTO and Head of R&D at Smoltek, explains the unique advantages of our disruptive carbon nanofiber capacitor technology. How we can make extremely small capacitors with high capacitance density, which is in high demand as the increasing power consumption of micro processors calls for ultrathin decoupling capacitors with Landside mounting.
The group company Smoltek Semi has signed a joint development agreement (JDA) with a subsidiary of the global electronic component company Yageo group to commercialize a silicon based carbon nanofiber discrete capacitor.
The Group company Smoltek Semi has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a global manufacturer of capacitors for the joint development of Smoltek's ultra-thin CMF-MIM capacitors and, provided that the development goals are achieved, mass production and sales via a 50/50-owned joint venture.
After completed tests and evaluations, Smoltek Semi has now placed an order for a machine for future industrial manufacturing of carbon nanofibers to the company's ultra-thin CNF-MIM capacitors.
Smoltek conducts operations in the development, industrialization and licensing of technology solutions, based on the company's patent-protected carbon nanofiber technology, for the semiconductor industry within the Group company Smoltek Semi. Its main focus is the industrialization and commercialization of the company’s ultra-thin CNF-MIM capacitors.
The evaluation license agreement that Smoltek signed in April 2020 with a global manufacturer of electronic components has been extended further. The work within this project is carried out by the subsidiary Smoltek Semi, whose main objective is to develop and license the manufacture of ultra-thin capacitors based on Smoltek's patent-protected carbon nanofiber technology.
A main goal for Smoltek Semi is to develop an industrial process for mass production of discrete CNF-MIM capacitors at contract manufacturers (foundry), including a specially designed machine for large-scale production of carbon nanofibers.
