Smoltek Hydrogen has formed a strategic collaboration with Impact Coatings to assess the industrialization of Smoltek’s carbon nanofiber (CNF) technology for use in PEM electrolyzers and fuel cells.
This partnership combines Smoltek’s CNF platform and low-iridium hydrogen solutions with Impact Coatings’ expertise in PVD coating systems. The goal is to move from prototypes to scalable, industrial production—crucial for Smoltek’s commercial expansion.
Ellinor Ehrnberg, President, Smoltek Hydrogen:
“Growing fibers in Impact Coatings’ PVD tools is a big step toward industrial production. We’re excited to move closer to commercialization.”
The collaboration aims to prove manufacturability and rapidly establish production capacity, potentially enabling full-scale electrode testing by next year and laying the groundwork for a long-term partnership.
Jonas Nilsson, CEO, Impact Coatings:
“We see great potential in combining Smoltek’s materials with our coating technology to meet the growing needs in hydrogen and fuel cell markets.”
