A leading automotive manufacturer is interested in our technology for hydrogen solutions and has ordered number of prototypes of Smoltek Hydrogen's nanostructure coating modified for fuel cells.
This is the second vehicle manufacturer to show interest in our technology and order custom-made prototypes according to their specific needs. If the project turns out well, we will likely be trusted to deliver more and larger prototypes.
Ellinor Ehrnberg, President of Smoltek Hydrogen
Smoltek Hydrogen has developed a porous transport electrode for the anode in PEM electrolyzers that can significantly reduce the amount of iridium in an electrolytic cell, which has resonated around the world. With changes in the basic configuration, the technology of the electrode can be modified so that it can also be used for fuel cell applications.
Earlier this year, a world-leading vehicle manufacturer ordered a custom-made prototype from Smoltek Hydrogen for evaluation. Now another major player in the automotive industry has placed an order for specially manufactured prototypes to test in small fuel cells. In this type of evaluation project, the technology is first tested in small centimeter-sized cells. In the next step, the technology is scaled up to a format of 5×5 cm, which is common for evaluating the durability of the electrode through long-term tests.
We offer completely unique solutions for both electrolyzers and fuel cells, which means we have high hopes of starting more and bigger projects with this customer.
